The entire Sahid Kuta Lifestyle Resort stretches 250 metres along a world famous beach, with amazing sea views. The project (done in two phases), covers an area of 3.2 hectares (formerly occupied by the old Sahid Hotel), and consists of a vibrant mix of the Beachwalk retail lifestyle hub, a five-star Sheraton Hotel Kuta Bali Resort, two new hotel brands (Aloft & Yellow) and residential apartments.
This prestigious development completed Phase One (consisting of the retail lifestyle hub and Sheraton Hotel) in 2012 and was shortlisted as a winner of World Architecture Festival’s 2013 Inside Award. Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort was also won “Hotel of the Year Awards in 2016-2017 for Top 100 Resort Worldwide. In 2017, subsequently also winning Hotel of the year “Best Luxury Family Lifestyle Beach Resort Worldwide”.
Enviro Tec is honored to have been appointed by the client since to design both phases. The journey has been a fruitful one, with intense exchanges of ideas, meaningful insights and wonderful surprises, and most important of all, a trusting relationship developed between client and designer that span the past 10 years, and continuing stronger than ever.
Deriving its architectural inspiration from the iconic Balinese terraced paddy fields as the resort’s distinctive identity, the development conjures a mixture of landscape layers that embrace the natural environment.
整个Sahid Kuta Lifestyle Resort度假村沿着世界著名的海滩绵延250米,享有壮丽的海景。该项目(分两期开发完成)占地3.2公顷(原Sahid 酒店),由Beachwalk零售生活方式中心,巴厘岛库塔五星级喜来登度假酒店,两个新酒店品牌(Aloft和Yellow)及住宅公寓组成。

The Beachwalk development prides itself with an emphasis on a natural ventilated environment, arranged in soft-formed terraced plates that also serve as viewing decks. The one-of-a-kind natural atmosphere is then enhanced with the presence of hanging vines and water channels while local and environmental friendly materials are incorporated with a rainwater collection and water recycling system.

An uninterrupted concurrence could also be seen in the hotel. Embarking from the vehicular access through a patterned lane and culminating in an unhindered sea view at the lobby space, the visitors could indulge themselves in the U-shaped hotel with its inclination towards the sea and open gardens at the center of each wing.

The learnings of the local traditional wisdom is applied in an evolving manner and relevant areas, an aspect of the project which proves hugely endearing as we witness the “breathing of old Kuta into a brand new life”. While the base wall lined with terracotta color depicts the islands of Indonesia, a roof thoughtfully-shaped as a rice farmer’s hat also caps the building. Offering a new lifestyle hub typology, the development transforms a sublime enchantment that advances the relevance of the built environment’s physical and social sustainability to the local context and needs.
The name ‘Beachwalk’ is suggestive of a sensory dimension. Semi-open and naturally ventilated, Beachwalk consists of a series of terraced landscaped plates that create a ‘soft’ environment and serve as viewing decks. The looping circulation eliminates dead-end spaces. Roofs take the shape of a local farmer’s hat. Hanging vines and water channels contribute to the resort atmosphere. The material for this project mostly from local material & environmental friendly. Like the retail floor at Beachwalk which using teracotta, produced locally in Bali, also local high-grade paras stones.
