Situated in the heart of Central Jakarta, minutes away from the bustling business districts, Fraser Residence Menteng Jakarta serves as an exclusive privately developed service apartment operated by the world renowned Fraser Hospitality.
Constructed on a cordial rectangular site ranged approximately 3000sqm, the 18-storey building consists of ± 120 apartment units, crested with 4 units of duplex penthouses on the two top levels of the building. The opulent penthouses remarkably place the living and bedroom spaces to a stretch of roof garden opening.
Approaching the site’s existing condition of narrow frontage, the idea for design came out to directly represent a building of framed views, which places the apartment face where most of its glass exposure conceived to be. Upon making the sense that the apartment inhabitants would look at Jakarta through a constantly moving framed picture, the glass façade thus constructed with perforated patterned box frames, dissecting the building levels in a proportioned manner. The patterned box frames coalesce with the length of the building while preserving the interior comfort with perforated sunscreens.
While maintaining the palatial feel through materials and grand patterns, the design also works on its thoughts for green space provision to the living environment. Throughout the apartment’s neighboring blocks that built right to a boundary, a line of timber planter box screen is set as a delightful lush partition. A flow of landscape and waterscape serving as a natural viewing area is placed on the building’s perimeter, while a grey water recycling and rainwater collection system provides enough water for all landscape and hydrous features in development, producing both the need of soundness for the body and tranquility for the soul as a quite remedy for Jakarta’s busy sprawl.
